[November
25, 2002 LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Pete Sampras has become
a father for the first time.
Sampras'
wife, actress Bridgette Wilson, gave birth to Christian
Charles last Thursday -Nov 21, in Los Angeles, according
to Deborah Grimes, the actress' spokeswoman.
Both
mother and baby are healthy, Grimes said.
The
couple was married two years ago.
Sampras
won his record 14th Grand Slam tennis title at the U.S.
Open in September. Wilson's film credits include ``The
Wedding Planner'' and ``I Know What You Did Last Summer.''
Pete
on impending fatherhood: "Hopefully, I'll be
a good father. Hopefully someone that my kid's gonna
look up to me and the way I am and I hope I'm a good
kind of role model for him or her."
